Bageshwari Asal Shasan Club (BAS)


Who are we?
The Bageshwori Asal Shasan Club [BAS] (Bageshwori Good Governance Club) is a youth-led Non-governmental Organisation (NGO), which was established by a group of active young citizens in 1998.  BAS has been actively engaged in working against corruption, irregulars, delays of work, bribery, disorder and breach of rules to make the government aware of its duties and responsibilities, since BAS was established. BAS works in 53 districts in 5 development regions of Nepal and has over 3,000 members.  BAS organises activities which tackle corruption, promotes public participation, Social accountability and transparency.
BAS has consistently succeeded in promoting good governance in Nepal through public awareness raising, campaigning, capacity building, lobbying, public discussion and civic mobilization.

To create a non Zero tolerant environment and organize the public hearing for the solution against kinships, disorder, bribery, corruption and irregular situation.

Our work
The goal of BAS is to create a corruption free society by increasing and mobilizing a sensitive energetic civic mass. BAS achieves this through six main programs; firstly Media Advocacy for Good Governance, BAS produces a weekly newspaper called Good Governance weekly which highlights some of the key issues of good governance in Nepal.  BAS also publishes Different books, bulletins and also produces and presents three weekly radio shows relating to good governance and disability
BAS delivers regular Social Accountability Activities such as; public audits of government services, round table discussion on new government policy development, public hearings on issues which affect the most marginalised in society, exit polls to gather public opinion on the satisfaction of government services, citizen report card, community Score card, public grievance Redresal System,  participatory monitoring, Public hearing and public dialogue.
BAS delivers Capacity Building Activities, targeted at building the skills, knowledge and confidence of young people to enable them to contribute towards achieving the mission of BAS but also to empower young people individually with skills for their lives and for future employment.
Bas organises Anti Corruption Activities such as its complaints help line which deals directly with complaints from members of the public in a fair and independent way.
Bas also organises a variety of Public Awareness Activities, such as; cultural programs, national day celebrations, Wall painting, Different quiz and street dramas.

Our Objectives

·         To increase awareness of good governance, to promote campaigns against corruption, disorder, irregular and working social change.

·         To increase awareness about Goof Governance and establish corruption free society.

·         To create public mass to access services and facilities delivered by government agencies and non government agencies

·         To organize relevant programs which make marginalised groups [ethnic groups, women, Dalit, Madheshi, Muslim, Disable, Risk Group] of society aware of their rights and entitlements, To media Advocacy for Good Governance.

·         To conduct capacity building and skill development training for young people, government officials,
women, To increase Why Culture For anti-corruption
